Dr. Owens earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2004, where he was honored with a nomination to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the Dental Honors Society. Following his graduation, he completed a year-long residency in general dentistry at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Before pursuing his DDS, Dr. Owens graduated Summa Cum Laude from SUNY Syracuse in 1999 with a Master’s in Physical Therapy, a discipline he incorporates into his comprehensive dental approach. In 2006, Dr. Owens and his family relocated to Northern Colorado, where he began practicing at Harmony Dental Care, now Owens Dental. In 2023, he opened Owens Dental Berthoud to serve his community closer to home in Berthoud, CO.
Dr. Owens is deeply committed to ongoing education, completing an impressive seven times the required amount each year. He travels nationwide to attend the most advanced courses, continually learning about the latest innovations in dentistry to bring the best possible care to his patients. His dedication to patient well-being led him to pursue specialized training in IV sedation, making him one of the first dentists in Northern Colorado to offer sedation dentistry. Much of his advanced education focuses on cosmetic dentistry and biologic (holistic) dentistry, reflecting his passion for providing natural, health-conscious care.
For many years, Dr. Owens has used biocompatible materials, carefully selected to align with the standards of biological dentistry. He is an active member of the IAOMT (International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology) and is working towards becoming a Certified Biological Dentist and SMART (Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique) Certified. The IAOMT is recognized as a leading resource for science-based biological dentistry, and Dr. Owens collaborates with local professionals to offer alternative, biologically safe materials and procedures.
In addition, Dr. Owens is certified to provide Ozone Therapy, integrating this powerful treatment into many biologic dental procedures at Owens Dental Berthoud. His holistic approach ensures that every patient receives care that promotes both dental and overall health, using methods designed to support the body’s natural healing process.
Outside of the office, Dr. Owens loves spending time with his wife, Caroline, and their six children: Lindsey, Miles, Sam, Wesley, Julia and Calvin. Dr. Owens is actively involved in the LDS community, coaches his kids’ sports teams, and enjoys spending time with his family…
