As a holistic dentist office, Owens Dental Berthoud practices care that accounts for the whole person, not just the teeth and gums. Smile makeovers are a great fit with this approach. We understand the role that the appearance of the smile plays in our patients’ overall well-being. Smile makeovers at our office in northern Colorado also blend a variety of different cosmetic and restorative dentistry procedures, five of which are listed below.
Many patients can benefit from our professional treatments. These procedures elevate the beautiful results from smile makeovers. We provide two effective options. The fastest approach is a two-hour whitening session at our office. You can also whiten gradually from the comfort of home with trays that are customized to fit your mouth.
Holistic dentists only use safe, biocompatible dental materials. This cosmetic dentistry treatment involves applying metal-free, composite resin to the front surfaces of “imperfect” teeth. The resin is color-matched to look natural in your smile. Once applied and secured to the teeth, dental composite covers stubborn discoloration, chips, gaps, and other imperfections.
Both bonding and veneers may also be applied to cover other minor spacing issues and irregularities in the shape and size of the teeth. While they address similar concerns, veneers are designed differently from bonding. We use stain-resistant, durable, and natural-looking porcelain. These thin layers of porcelain are made by our top-tier dental lab. A small amount of enamel is removed to ensure each veneer fits properly. Once created, veneers are bonded securely to your teeth. We are glad to explore the differences between bonding and veneers with you during a consultation.
Our dental restorations support a naturally attractive appearance and long-lasting function and health. We use tooth-colored composite fillings to repair cavities. These fillings are a biocompatible alternative to silver-colored amalgam fillings that contain mercury. Our crowns are also made from safe, biocompatible materials, such as ceramics like porcelain. Crowns may be appropriate when teeth are weakened and vulnerable to further damage due to fractures and large cavities.
Restorative dentistry also includes procedures to rebuild teeth when they cannot be preserved. A dental bridge is generally recommended to replace one or a few teeth. The bridge is anchored by neighboring teeth. Dental implants are versatile. A single implant may be surgically placed and secured in the jawbone to anchor one replacement tooth (or crown). A few implants may be used to support a dental bridge. Lastly, it may take just four to six implants to support an upper or lower denture.
